About Me

I am currently finishing my fourth year at the University of Regina in my journey to become a middle school teacher.  I am very interested in the use of technology in the classroom and becoming a 21st-century teacher.  I have recently completed an internship at St. Michael School in Weyburn, Saskatchewan teaching grade 8.  Through this experience, I was able to teach ELA, Social Studies, Math, Science, Art, and Physical Education.

When I’m not studying or doing homework I enjoy include playing hockey, as well as checking up on my Twitter to expand my PLN.  I also have a new found love for painting.  If you want you can follow me at @HockeyCURTIS.

Throughout my time at the University of Regina, I have learned a lot about the current social justice issues that our society is facing.  In addition, as a social justice educator, I believe education plays a strong role in addressing the calls to action in regards to the TRC. I think it is very important for everyone to be aware of what is happening in our world.  Students must be exposed to various perspectives away from the dominant white norm.  In addition to my strong interest in social justice, I have an interest in geography, social studies, and history.  I would also one day love to teach math and science.

  1. Curtis – always a thrill when I have a student who is intrigued with technology and sees the potential for PD, building a PLN and to use it in the classroom. Great to see you on twitter. It’ll be wonderful to see how you use technology in your Social Studies for this class. Have fun.
